Food Defense
Food security is taken seriously by RFS. Receiving andwarehouse standard operating procedures require chemical accountability, inventory control, video camera surveillance, exit door alarms, water supply safety testing, visitor procedures, personnel training, and employee background checks. HACCP audits include security checks.
Special Situations
Should an extraordinary event impede, suspend or halt normal distribution operations or processes critical to the safe storage, handling, transportation or delivery of food products and packaging materials to or from a distribution center, Reinhart has a disaster recovery plan in place. Interdivisional support between warehouses can be implemented if deemed necessary to continue shipment of product to customers.
HACCP
Reinhart’s HACCP plans meet and exceed all government mandates. Written standard operating procedures clearly define procedures for procurement, receiving, storage, and transportation. RFS HACCP plans require proper temperature control at receiving during storage and transportation. Temperature monitoring devices are calibrated. Unannounced inspections twice a year by our internal HACCP auditor as well as outside auditing firms and governmental agencies ensure our plans are operationally effective. The written plans are available on-premises for review by our customers.
MSDS
Material Safety Data Sheets are provided within the case of most products. Should an additional copy be required, it is readily available from RFS.
Product Guarantees
Letters of guarantee are required of vendors prior to their approval. These guarantees ensure products shipped to RFS meet all governmental requirements for labeling, safety and wholesomeness. Reinhart also supplies letters of guarantee to customers upon request.
Recalls and Product Trace Back
It is Reinhart’s duty and moral responsibility to remove product from sale if the product has been deemed injurious. RFS has the ability to initiate and complete a product recall within four hours of notification. Mock recalls are conducted to verify this process.
Production Lot Codes and Shelf Life Information
RFS corporate standards maintain an extensive library of material to decipher production lot codes. Product shelf life is tracked to ensure our customers receive the freshest product available.
Meat Processing Plant Micro-Testing
State of the art microbiological testing is conducted in our meat processing plants. Daily standard test samples are taken after the room has been cleaned as well as prior to start-up. Additional weekly and quarterly environmental testing is used to verify sanitation.
